Matcha Banana Latte is a healthy way to start your day! This vibrant healthy matcha smoothie is simply bursting with goodness. This spinach, banana and matcha smoothie is bursting with goodness. Matcha green tea powder adds a subtle, yet intoxicating flavor punch to the regular green monster smoothie. And for those who don’t know, a green monster smoothie is one made with spinach! Trust me, you can’t taste it. Give it a try!

Matcha is processed green tea leaves that have been stone-ground into a powder (typically in Japan, where it’s been used in the legendary tea ceremonies by Zen Masters for centuries). It’s different from green tea because you ingest the whole powdered green tea leaf, not just the brewed water. Matcha does have caffeine, but it’s only about half of the caffeine in coffee.

Thanks to L-Theanine, a naturally occurring amino acid that helps induce calmness, matcha tea (which is basically ground up green tea) gives you a burst of natural caffeine while also helping you feel calm and focused. Nutrient-wise, the bright-green tea is an almost perfect choice of teas. Matcha is packed with antioxidants, fiber, chlorophyll and vitamins. Just one cup of matcha contains the nutritional equivalent of 10 cups of regular brewed green tea.
