If you’ve ever had those irresistible cheddar biscuits at Red Lobster, you know how difficult it is to stop at just one. These Red Lobster Cheese and Garlic Biscuits are an easy copycat version you can make at home in about 20 minutes. They’re tender inside, golden and slightly crisp around the edges, loaded with shredded cheddar cheese, and finished with warm garlic butter.
The secret to good cheese garlic biscuits is keeping the dough light. Cold butter is cut into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs, then milk is gently stirred in. The shredded cheddar goes in last, and the dough is mixed only until everything is incorporated. Over-mixing can make biscuits tough, so this is one recipe where a light touch pays off.
A pastry blender is the most useful tool for this recipe. It makes quick work of cutting the cold butter into the flour without warming the butter with your hands. You can use one for biscuits, pie crusts, scones, and other pastry recipes, making it a handy tool for any home baker.
The biscuits bake at 450°F for just 10 minutes, so keep an eye on them toward the end. Once they’re golden and crisp on top and underneath, they’re brushed generously with melted butter mixed with a little garlic. Serving them warm is definitely the way to go.
These Red Lobster biscuits are perfect alongside seafood, steak, soup, pasta, or just about any dinner that could use a warm, cheesy side. They’re also simple enough to make when you want homemade bread without waiting for yeast dough to rise.
If you’re craving those famous cheddar biscuits but don’t want to make a trip to the restaurant, this quick copycat recipe gives you warm, cheesy, garlicky biscuits straight from your own oven.
